...And She’s In Preschool!!!
September 8, 2009 – Its official...Rylynn has graduated from “toddler” to “preschooler”. Tuesday was just an orientation day; a chance for Rylynn to meet and greet her teachers and the other kids that will be in her class while Nick and I filled out all the registration forms. Despite months of excited anticipation, Rylynn seemed very nervous upon entering the classroom. I’m sure there would have been tears had Nick and I not been staying for the duration. So I was a little uncertain of what to expect from her come Thursday when I’d be dropping her off for her first real day. But, much to my delight, she seemed to have overcome whatever fears had been plaguing her. We got to her classroom and she strode right in to hang up her backpack and join the other kids sitting around the circle, nearly forgetting in her new-found confidence to hug and kiss her dear ol’ mother who stood waiting at the door.
When I arrived to pick her up a couple hours later her teachers reported that she had done great. One teacher even described her as “talkative”, which is not a side of Rylynn many people get to see prior to her reaching a level of extreme comfort and familiarity. After picking Aubri up from school we headed to a park where Rylynn continued to demonstrate this new boldness that apparently comes with being a preschooler. She walked right up to several kids whom she had never seen before and introduced herself and asked them their names! Seemingly a minor feat, yet very uncharacteristic of the sweet pre-preschool girl I had dropped off at school just a few hours earlier.
